City to consider changes to speed limit authority

Cape Coral City Council will consider on Wednesday a change to how the city alters and posts speed limits throughout the city. The ordinance, which gives city staff the authority to change limits based on council- approved needs investigations, is set for its first public hearing and includes new language for speed limits. “The Mayor and City Council shall adopt a resolution that will serve to authorize the City Administration to initiate the investigation, as required by the Florida Department of Transportation, in determination that such speed alteration is reasonable and in conformity with the criteria established by the Florida Department of Transportation,” according to ...
