Cape Coral residents have an opportunity Friday night to meet local candidates in the upcoming elections.

On June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brotherhood of Heroes Resource Center and Museum, all local candidates have been invited to participate in a meet-and-greet in which the hopefuls can chum it up with members of the public and speak about the platform on which they are running.

The event is sponsored by Chris Cammarota, who is a supporter of the museum and member of the Lee County Veterans Advisory Committee.

As to why Cammarota organized the event, he said, “Well, to be informed. To get the public informed. There’s nothing worse than a populous that are misinformed or uninformed. If you come, you can meet these candidates face-to-face, one-on-one, and get their views and opinions to help make the best choice for who will represent them.”

All local candidates running for office have been invited, including candidates for Cape Coral City Council including the mayor’s race; Lee County School Board, Lee County Board of County Commissioners; Congressional District 19, and local judges.

Admission to the event is free, and refreshments will be served.

Cammarota said each candidate who attends will have a table set up for the public to walk up and hear from them directly. He also is asking each candidate to make a $100 donation to the museum to help its cause.

“We hope the public shows up,” Cammarota said. “It’s worth your time. This is the right thing, to do your civic duty and be informed.”

The Brotherhood of Heroes Resource Center and Museum is at 4522 Del Prado Blvd., S.
