North Fire District unveils flag disposal box
It’s hard to believe that North Fort Myers has never had a public place for people to dispose of old, retired American flags. That all changed on Friday, when the North Fort Myers Fire District unveiled a flag retirement box in a small ceremony including local dignitaries representing veterans groups in the area. There are several fire retirement boxes in North Fort Myers. However, they are located at the many 55+ communities and veterans organizations. The new box, located at the NFMFD Station1 at 2900 Trail Dairy Circle, will provide a convenient resource for people to respect one of the nation’s national symbols and encourage proper flag etiquette.
