Child Care of Southwest Florida receives $10,000 grant from The League Club

By Staff | May 7, 2024

Child Care of Southwest Florida has received a $10,000 grant from The League Club to support needs-based tuition scholarships at four early learning centers in Lee County.

The grant from The League Club will provide at least 25 families with scholarship assistance, empowering at-risk children with affordable, high quality early learning opportunities. The funding also helps remove the financial constraint from parents, allowing them to pursue, maintain and enhance their careers while furthering their child’s education.

“We are so grateful for the support of The League Club and their help in furthering our local children’s academic success,” said Chris Hansen, CEO of Child Care of Southwest Florida. “Because of their support, we will be able to provide over 25 children with learning opportunities they may otherwise not receive. With this grant, our hope is to turn statistics into success and change the lives of our local youth.”

As a nonprofit, Child Care of Southwest Florida partners with local charitable foundations and businesses to offer high-quality early learning programs at a reduced rate to families in Lee and Hendry counties.

“For over 37 years, The League Club has honored its commitment to community by raising and distributing funds through grants made to carefully vetted nonprofit agencies throughout Collier and Lee counties. These grants address the needs of at-risk children, families, the elderly and veterans,” said The League Club President Mary Ann Lillie. “To date, The League Club has awarded over $7.3 million dollars to deserving grant applicants. The League Club is proud of our ability to assist agencies dealing with food scarcity, housing, education, physical and mental health and the arts. While fulfilling our mission, we are helping to fill the critical human needs that exist in our communities. This mission is truly the heart and soul of The League Club.”

This year, The League Club has selected and awarded grants to 35 area nonprofit organizations, totaling $638,000. Over the past 37 years, The League Club has provided $7.3 million in grants to 217 nonprofit organizations in Collier and Lee counties. Funding for grants come from the TLC’s Community Trust Fund, which is raised through The League Club’s annual fundraiser, NAPLES TABLES ®, and from the generosity of members and donors.
