Red Sox stadium helps boost

permitting value in county for February

Permitting for the Red Sox stadium – valued at approximately $37.7 million for the stadium, club house and chiller plant – helped boost the value of permitting in unincorporated Lee County during February. It is the highest monthly value for commercial permits since early 2007.

Commercial permits issued in February totaled nearly $39 million, due to the new sports complex that Lee County is building on Daniels Parkway. That value compares to $5.4 million in commercial permitting during January. There were no new commercial buildings permitted in February 2010.

Also during February, contractors pulled 20 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at $3.2 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 34 permits issued in January and 34 issued in February 2010, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

Permits were issued for four multi-family units, compared to eight in January and 18 in February 2010.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development and building services, environmental review, building inspection, and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.
