Air Force Airman 1st Class Sara E. Giel

Air Force Airman 1st Class Sara E. Giel graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Giel is the daughter of John and Natalie Baker of Garrettsville, Ohio, and of Charles and Bobette Giel of Fort Myers. She is also the sister of Megan N. Shull of Akron, Ohio; and the granddaughter of Burness Spangler of Mentor, Ohio, and of John Giel of Burton, Ohio.

She earned a diploma in 2006 from James A Garfield High School, Garrettsville, Ohio, and a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio.
