Hutchison named to Southern Miss Dean’s List for Spring 2022 Semester

The University of Southern Mississippi has released its President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2022 spring semester.

The President’s List includes full-time students who earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average (all A’s). Dean’s List scholars are those with at least a 3.5 grade point average, but less than a 4.0.

Among the students recognize was Douglas Tyler Hutchison of Cape Coral, who made the Dean’s List.

The University of Southern Mississippi, a comprehensive public research institution with campuses in Hattiesburg and Long Beach, and teaching and research sites in central and southeast, has a student body of more than 14,000, representing 71 countries, all 50 states and every county in Mississippi. Local students receive degrees from University of Wisconsin-Madison

About 7,700 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on May 13 and 14, including students from Southwest Florida.

There were two live ceremonies: one at the Kohl Center on May 13 for doctoral, MFA and medical students; and one at Camp Randall on May 14 for undergraduate, law and master’s students.

Among the graduates were Amanda DeCastro of Cape Coral, College of Letters and Science, who received a master of arts – library and information studies; and Kampbell Hehr, of Fort Myers, School of Human Ecology, bachelor of science – consumer behavior and marketplace studies.

Guzman graduates from Emerson College

Emerson College, an institution for the arts, communication, and the liberal arts, awarded more than 1,000 undergraduate de-grees during its 142nd Commencement at Agganis Arena in Boston on May 8.

Among the graduates was Jonathan Guzman from Cape Coral, who received a BA in media arts production.

FSW School of Health Professions receives $300,000 donation from Shady Rest Foundation

Florida SouthWestern State College’s School of Health Professions has received a $300,000 donation from the Shady Rest Foundation. The funds will be used to create scholarships for FSW School of Health Professions students.

The $300,000 donation will be split into three scholarship designations: $100,000 will create immediate scholarships for FSW RN to BSN nursing students; $100,000 will be used to create permanently endowed scholarships for future FSW RN to BSN nursing students; and $100,000 will be used to create permanently endowed scholarships for all degree-seeking students in FSW’s School of Health Professions.

The mission of the Shady Rest Foundation is to provide financial support to organizations in the community dedicated to providing education and wellness services benefitting older adults.

Reynolds named director of Special Programs at Hodges University

Todd Reynolds has joined Hodges University as director of Special Programs.

In this role, his focus is on coaching and advising local executive leaders and small business owners through two initiatives set to launch this year.

Reynolds brings more than 25 years of proven expertise in executive recruitment and business development. Since 2014, he is the principal of The Reynolds Group, LLC, and has recruited executives in the areas of sales, physicians, brokers, bankers, builders, developers and general and executive management.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in technical education and training at Cleveland State University.
