Moore named to Presidential Honor List at New York Institute of Technology

Megan Moore of Cape Coral was named to the Spring 2020 Presidential Honor List at New York Institute of Technology. Moore was one of more than 1,500 students to be honored. To qualify for the Presidential Honor List, a student must achieve a minimum semester GPA of 3.7 and complete at least 12 credit hours without any incomplete grades.

New York Institute of Technology offers 90 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs in more than 50 fields of study, including computer science, data, and cybersecurity; biology and biomedical studies; architecture and design; engineering; health professions and medicine; IT and digital technologies; management; communications and marketing; education and counseling; and energy and sustainability. Community Foundation scholarship application process to begin

The Southwest Florida Community Foundation’s scholarship application pro-cess for the 2020-2021 school year is under way. All scholarships require the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form available at www.fafsa.gov.

Approximately $800,000 in scholarship money is available through more than 100 scholarships for local high-school students, adult learners, undergraduate and graduate students from Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties. Last year, one in four students who applied received a scholarship from the Foundation.

Students can apply for scholarships through the Foundation’s online portal at www.florida community.com/scholarships. The scholarship application process will close Jan. 11, 2021. Students may review the scholarships available online as well as a tutorial about how to create and submit the online application. Students may apply for multiple scholarships and have the ability to upload transcripts, a letter of recommendation and the FAFSA Student Aid Report. 

Educators, mentors, parents and students can find resources to complete the FAFSA through the local FAFSA first website recently launched by the FutureMakers Coalition at http://fafsafirst.org/. The goal of the FutureMakers Coalition is to transform the workforce by increasing the number of Southwest Florida residents with degrees, certificates and other high-quality credentials by the year 2025.

Hodges University, Momentum Brewhouse unveil Keaton’s Legacy Beer

What happens when you bring together Momentum Brewhouse, a beer artisan, and Hodges University?

Momentum Brewhouse founder Brian Hahn is known for elevating the art of creating award-winning beer. For the Keaton, the Hodges Hawk mascot, he created Keaton’s Legacy, an IPA that is infused with fresh strawberry and mango. It will make its debut during a special event from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.

The proceeds from the sale of Keaton’s Legacy beer, and a limited edition t-shirt, will go to the Hawks Scholarship Fund, which provides assistance for Hodges University students. Plus, a new wall of art will be unveiled.
