Mighty Mussels’ Fragoza named FSL Player of the Week
FORT MYERS – Fort Myers Mighty Mussels INF/OF Luis Fragoza was named the Florida State League Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 10, as announced today by the offices of Minor League Baseball.
The Minnesota Twins No. 27 prospect led the FSL with a slash line of .667/.800/.1.583 while recording a 2.383 OPS in five games against the Clearwater Threshers.
Fragoza ranked second in HR (3), walks (7), extra base hits (5), runs (9), steals (5) and total bases (19).
The 19-year-old becomes the third Mussel to earn a Player of the Week honor this season, joining Quinn McDaniel (5/18) and Dameury Pena (4/13).
Fragoza is the 11th Player of the Week and 25th Player/Pitcher of the Week for the franchise since 2022.
On the season, Fragoza leads the Mussels in average (.322) slugging (.607) OPS (1.005) and RBI (51) across 59 games played.
Fragoza has gone deep 14 times this season, tied for the second most home runs in a season since the franchise switched to Single-A in 2020.
The Mussels are back in action Tuesday, Aug. 18, in Palm Beach against the Cardinals. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. The team returns home on Tuesday, Aug. 25 for the final home series of the regular season.
