Ida Baker’s Blazekovic to represent U.S. in international basketball competition
Senior Bulldog named to national team for third time
For most young basketball players, wearing “USA” across their jersey is a dream. For Chase Blazekovic, it has become a remarkable tradition.
The Ida Baker High School senior has once again been selected to represent the United States in international basketball competition, traveling to Costa Rica from July 14-22, to compete against elite teams from around the world.
This marks the third consecutive year Blazekovic has earned the honor of representing Team USA, a distinction reserved for athletes who have demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication and character on and off the court.
Basketball has been a part of Blazekovic’s life since he was just 4 years old. His journey began in the Southwest Florida recreational basketball leagues before advancing through the highly competitive Warriors AAU and Fuego AAU basketball programs. His passion for the game, relentless work ethic and commitment to improving every season led him to earn a varsity roster spot at Ida Baker High School as a sophomore.
Now entering his senior season at Ida Baker, Blazekovic hopes to cap off his high school career with his strongest season yet while continuing to build upon an already impressive international résumé.
In 2024, Blazekovic represented the United States during competition in Portugal and Spain, helping Team USA earn the Silver Medal at one of the largest international youth basketball festivals in the world.
The following year, he was again selected to Team USA for the United World Games in Klagenfurt, Austria, where the team competed against top international competition in Austria, Germany, and Italy. Despite competing in the highly competitive 19U division against older players, Team USA captured the Bronze Medal.
Now, with two international medals already to his name, Blazekovic is preparing for another opportunity to compete on the world stage while proudly representing both his country and the Southwest Florida community.
“Representing the United States is an incredible honor,” said Blazekovic. “Every opportunity to compete internationally pushes me to become a better player and person. I’m grateful to my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has supported me throughout my basketball journey.”
As Blazekovic prepares for his senior season at Ida Baker, his experiences competing against elite international talent continue to shape both his game and his leadership on the court.
