Breeze Newspapers presents end-of-year awards to student-athletes
The Breeze Newspapers is celebrating student-athletes this week with the announcement of our annual year-end awards.
In today’s edition, readers will find a special section honoring Breeze Newspapers Athletes of the Week throughout the year, as well the announcement of our staff-selected male and females Athletes of the Year, Team of the Year, and Coach of the Year. A special video presentation can be viewed on The Breeze website and social media platforms.
The Breeze Newspapers is also announcing that voting opens today for our fan-voted Reader’s Choice Athlete of the Year.
This year’s nominees are:

• Bennett Sweitzer of Bishop Verot High School
• Jaelyn Hoefer of North Fort Myers High School

• Nikolas Korf of Ida Baker High School
• Austin Schoolcraft of Island Coast High School
Voting for the Reader’s Choice Athlete of the Year begins June 5 and runs through noon on June 11.

Our Athlete of the Week program, that features two local student-athletes from our area, was distributed in print, online and via social media each and every week.
We graciously thank each school and their coaches and staff for working with us this year to help make this a reality, and are looking forward to continuing to grow this program — for our students, in our area.
