Registration is still open for a golf tourney to support Sanibel Island youths and scholarships for students.

The Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Club will host the 10th Annual Doc Ford’s Invitational 2026 “King of the Rock” Tournament next Saturday, May 30, at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club on Sanibel.

The two-person scramble will feature 18 holes of tournament golf, with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

“It’s one of our three fundraisers,” Kiwanian and Golf Tournament Committee Member Eric Pfeifer said, explaining that the others are the spaghetti dinner and coupon books. “This is the last one.”

Proceeds from the tourney will benefit the club’s Scholarship Fund.

“All three of our fundraisers raise money, and we give 100% of the money out to island-based organizations for kids and kids scholarships,” he said.

The format for the tournament will be single-round flighted.

Players of all skill levels are welcome.

“It’s open to anybody with a GHIN handicap,” Pfeifer said.

The top finishers will receive awards.

“How you finish in your flight matters,” he said. “The winner of each will be ‘King of the Rock.'”

After the tourney, The Dunes Clubhouse will serve up lunch.

“The Dunes pro Mike Dopslaff will announce the flight winners during lunch,” Pfeifer said.

The assignment of the teams and flights will take place at a pre-tournament gathering on May 29 at 6 p.m. at The Dunes Clubhouse. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided, with a cash bar available.

Doc Ford’s is the presenting sponsor.

Major sponsors include: American Gallery of Homes, Artistic Designs, Artistic Interiors, Bank of the Islands, Cielo, Karen Bell and the Bell Team, MoldBusters, Pfeifer Realty Group, Sanibel Air and Electric, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, and Superior Title, as well as many additional supporters.

He extended appreciation and thanks to all of the sponsors.

“For more than 50 years, Kiwanis has supported all of the island youth organizations,” Pfeifer said. “We look forward to seeing you at the King of the Rock tournament.”

The entry fee is $300 for a twosome.

The deadline for player registration is Tuesday, May 26.

The community is invited to sign up.

“If they don’t play, they can’t be ‘King of the Rock,'” he said.
