Mussels’ Ross named FSL Pitcher of the Week

Fort Myers — Mighty Mussels starter Michael Ross was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week on July 28 by Minor League Baseball.
Pitching against his hometown Lakeland Flying Tigers, Ross put together the first quality start of a season for a Mussels’ pitcher. He was perfect through the first five innings of the game and excited after six innings of shutout ball.
Ross allowed an infield single, issued one walk, and struck out five Flying Tigers. He retired the final three batters he faced as his only two baserunners came to the first two batters of the sixth inning. The 23-year-old righty threw 49 of his 63 pitches for strikes while inducing eight swings and misses.
His effort on the mound set the tone for the quickest nine inning game (1:58) of the season for the Mighty Mussels.
Ross becomes the third Mussel to earn Pitcher of the Week honors in 2025, joining Adrian Bohorquez (7/7) and Jason Doktorczyk (6/9).
