Baseball

Mariner 8, Port Charlotte 0: Dominick Cotoni was 2-for-4 with a double, driving in three Tritons (2-1) runs. Matthew Morales also had a double among his two hits and had three RBI. Cole Sandler was 3-for-4, scoring twice. Michael Scalise struck out eight in 5 1/3 innings of two-hit shutout ball.

Early Bird Tournament

At Terry Park, Fort Myers

Cape Coral 2, Fort Myers 1 (10 innings): Andrew Friedl’s ground ball in the bottom of the 10th inning brought home Alex Kolasinski with the winning run as the Seahawks opened their season with a win. Kolasinski, the third Cape pitcher, worked the last three innings to earn the victory. Fort Myers, held to two hits, scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. Orion Powell drove home Allen Guero for the first Cape Coral run. Guero started on the mound, working five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts.

Island Coast 15, Lehigh 3: Demetrius McCants was 2-for-2 with two RBI and scored three runs for the Gators (2-1). Eddie Boe Rodriguez (3-for-4) scored three times with a solo home run, Javey Cabrera doubled and had two RBI, and six other Island Coast players drove in a run each. Dylan Masters pitched five innings for the win.

South Fort Myers 7, North Fort Myers 0: Logan Wilsker went 2-for-3 for the Red Knights (0-3).

Softball

Mariner 19, Dunbar 1 (3 innings): Katie Campbell homered, tripled, drove in four runs and scored three times for the Tritons (1-2). Madi Gervais was 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored; Kayle Murphy went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored; Jame Jarvis 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs; and Laila Jones was 4-for-5, drove in two runs and scored twice.
