Prep Report: Mariner, Baker post 2nd Roth wins
Ida Baker and Mariner remain undefeated after two games in the Bud Roth Memorial Tournament after registering lopsided victories Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (9-10), who face Bishop Verot Thursday in the black division round robin field, sprayed 15 base hits (five for extra bases) in a 16-1, one-hit rout of Naples Lely.
The Bulldogs were led offensively by Justin Gubelman (2-for-4) with four RBI while three others drove in two runs apiece – Ryan Hutson (2-for-4), Rob Johnson (2-for-3) and Alan Spangler (2-for-3). Mike Gulotta contributed two hits and one RBI.
Sean Brady pitched the first three innings and did not allow a base hit while striking out two to earn the victory.

Mariner 12, South Fort Myers 0: Taylor Walker pitched a five-inning one-hitter, striking out nine, and Walter Cleary drove in five runs to lead Mariner to a shutout victory over South Fort Myers Wednesday in the Roth Tournament gold division.
Walker (2-for-2) drove in a pair of runs as did teammate Alex Santana (2-for-2). Cleary’s only base hit was a grand slam home run in the third inning to put the Tritons over the 10-run margin.

Bishop Verot 9, Pasco County 0: Dan Vogelbach ripped two doubles and D.J. Schleicher pitched a complete-game shutout to lead Bishop Verot past Pasco County.
Schleicher allowed six hits and struck out four for the Vikings (12-8), who face Ida Baker Thursday in the black division round robin.
