Nieves was scorching hot last week, going 7-for-10 at the plate for Ida Baker. She collected five RBI, scored six runs, and walked twice. The sophomore also blasted a home run versus North Port.

“I was feeling really pumped at the plate, and our team performed well. We’re trying to win districts. And I’m just trying to work on my mentality and consistency this season.”

Wylie was impressive in both the circle and at the plate for the Red Knights, as she pitched 10 innings in an extra-inning victory over Riverdale and went 4-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in a win over Naples.

“I focused on throwing first pitch strikes, limiting walks and just letting my defense work. At the plate, I just tried to clear my mind and wanted to say ahead in the count.”
