Farewell and adieu
To the editor:
Well, we say goodbye to our latest city manager, Michael Ilczyszyn. On to bigger and better things, maybe in Fort Myers?
The Caloosahatchee effluent water from Fort Myers was a $15 million project (Gov. DeSantis pitched in $3 million) that takes wastewater from Fort Myers below the riverbed at the Midpoint Bridge. This project provides additional water to the utility system of Cape Coral which is a 100% recycling system. Additional sources of water to Cape Coral are to be from a reservoir in Charlotte County that was purchased for $38 million (1,202 acres of land).
So these moves were to address the water problems that the many miles of canals need to survive in drought conditions and the algae growth associated with effluent from the neighboring cities’ runoff.
As we look forward, we have the Costco fiasco and presto, traffic woes that this will create.
Vanna, can I buy a vowel?
