Vote King
To the editor:
The election is this Tuesday and why should you vote for Liza King for District 6 for City Council in Cape Coral? Liza was born at Lee Memorial Hospital, has lived her entire life in Cape Coral and raised her family here. She started her career at the age of 17 at the Lee County Clerk’s Office, while pursuing her degree Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Florida Gulf Coast University. She then moved to the Administrative office of the Courts, where she currently holds the position of Chief Deputy Court Administrator for the 20th Judicial Circuit. She is responsible for budgeting, staffing, policy implementation for a multi county circuit. Her leadership earned her recognition as a “40 Under 40” in Lee County and the honor of a Women of Distinction Award. Her heart for service extends beyond her professional career. She served on the Lee County Charter Review Commission, the Cape Coral Charter Review Commission, the Metropolitan Planning Organizational Citizens Advisory Committee and currently serves on a United Way allocation review team.
As a homeowner she is vested in the community. Her civic and political leadership include serving as the vice president of the Patriots Club, member of the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral and Precinct Representative for the Lee County Executive Committee. She not only volunteers for local non-profits, but she founded the Alice’s Wings of Hope in memory of her sister Alice King who passed from cancer to make an impact in the community. Proceeds from this organization give scholarships to students at the Cape Coral Technical College.
Through her experience she has learned that government is about being willing to listen to the people, do the homework, ask hard questions and sometimes stand alone. She has already shown she is a person of actions and not words by meeting with a local retired veteran and assisting him to get his homes driveway repaired along with the Lee Builders Care non-profit.
I believe Liza will be an independent voice who will make thoughtful decision and will be the interests of Cape Coral residents ahead of special interests. This election is an opportunity to bring change to our City Council, choose the candidate with experience, integrity and proven public service. I ask for your support by voting for Liza King for District 6.
