Not the party of Lincoln
To the editor:
Lincoln would vote for Florida Democrats on Nov. 3!
Republicans have controlled the state government since 1966 and many local offices for as long or longer.
• Worse home price drop of America’s 129 largest cities, Cape Coral down 9 percent in a year, and four of the seven biggest metro declines in America are Southwest Florida
• Highest homeowner’s insurance in America, $8,292 a year, up 18 percent
• Cost of living is the third most expensive state in America
• 59 percent of Florida renters are cost burdened, the worst in America.
• DeSantis’s Utility Commission appointees who Donalds will retain approved a $6.9 billion Florida Power and Light rate increase, the largest in company history, hitting 12 million Floridians
• 47 percent of Florida households, more than 4.2 million, cannot afford rent, food, child care, health care and transportation
• Florida wages rank 20th while costs rank 48th. Florida workers earn about 7.6 percent less than the national average
• 52 percent of Florida’s tested waters fail Florida’s own water quality standards. Only 30 percent pass
• Florida teacher pay is second lowest in America, $56,663 against $74,495 nationally, and fell 12.4 percent in real dollars over a decade
Donalds to retain Florida Surgeon General Ladapo. At least, 58 measles cases in 2026, the most in 25 years. Whooping cough more than doubled, to 1,454 cases in 2025 from 715 in 2024.
No Floridian is better off except the Republicans in office and their very rich donors.
