Local elections have lasting consequences
To the editor:
One local election can change everything. This August, voters are faced with tipping or balancing the scales of justice, the board of commission and the school board. These races are not primaries. They are decisive.
While some of these races are non-partisan, some candidates flaunt their extremism, while others respect the public’s choice to keep political leanings out of decision making.
Pay close attention to the candidates who campaign with regard to ethics and those who don’t. Take note of their financial reports, not just for the source and amount, but also to notice what is not reported!
These elections may seem small, but they have big consequences and impact whether we end up with a balanced, ethical slate of officials or not.
There are no do-overs, so think past Party affiliations to ethical standards.
