Todd Blanche is not fit to serve
To the editor:
It is sickening to think of Todd Blanche as AG. He has demonstrated time and time again that his complete loyalty is to Donald J. Trump, not to the Constitution of our nation. No president in our history has sought to persecute his perceived critics in the way Trump has and Blanche has stood ready and willing to ignore the law and bring bogus cases against respected public servants and journalists.
And when Trump decided to sue the IRS for $10 billion, Blanche, understanding the case would be laughed out of any courtroom, to say nothing of the fact that this was taxpayer money under siege, authored a settlement under which Trump would be awarded a $1.8 billion slush fund to use at his discretion, probably to reward Jan. 6 insurrectionists who assaulted police officers and desecrated our Capitol. After a judge ruled against the idea of Trump’s slush fund, Blanche claimed the settlement was dead, but Trump won’t let it go. He obviously intends to appeal to the Supreme Court and, who knows, they might just side with Trump in this most vile piece of corruption. And part of the settlement in this case was complete immunity for Trump and his family against any future charges of corruption or financial crimes.
Blanche won’t admit it, but it’s obvious he was the driving force behind Ghislane Maxwell’s reassignment to a minimum-security prison after he interviewed her about her ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell is guilty of hideous crimes and should be serving her sentence in the harshest of conditions, but Blanche has made it clear he is not interested in justice for the Epstein/Maxwell victims; what he cares about is protecting the billionaire class, including his boss, from damaging revelations in the Epstein files.
