Regarding the story headlined “State escalates grade standard, school district gears up.” The superintendent says “we love when the state raises bar.”

Facts for Lee County schools”

  — 3-8 graders Reading, 54% literacy

  — 3-8 graders Math, 67% mastery

  — High School Reading, 44%  Reading Literacy

   —  Math 33%, Math Mastery

Lee School board brags about an 89.8% graduation rate achieved through social promotion, not basic student achievement. The school board and administrators are making one of the highest salaries while a starting teacher has the same starting pay of a school board member at $54,500.
