Questions for the candidates
To the editor:
It would be nice to know what candidates suggest for top economic concerns here in the Cape? I agree that expansion of Cape Technical College is excellent. I want to know where the candidates think about jobs, retention, cost of living, inflation rate unemployment rate — such as —
a) Increasing unemployment rate: How are jobs being created? for high school grads? for 30-50 year olds? Is employment rate EVER part of consideration by Cape Coral City Council?
b) Employment and the Development plan of Cape: How did employment figure into the funding for Jaycee Park? How about the Yacht Club build? I see no one talking about jobs, or inflation rate concern at Cape Council meetings.
c) Where do candidates see Cape Coral (or Lee County) five years from now? Affordable? Good place for jobs? Reasonable housing costs? Or continued increases in insurance, property and thus unaffordable for middle class families?
d) Ask a question about aggregate Cape government and costs compared to other Florida cities of comparable population such as, “Do you believe Cape Coral City Budget is a) high, b) just right, or c) low relative to its neighbors across this great state of Florida?”
The Row Club represents a teeny, tiny fraction of Cape student groups with 14 to 28 members… I want to know what candidates think about 80% of the costs voters are paying for in Cape Coral.
