On behalf of the City of Cape Coral, thank you to everyone who joined us for our 250th Raise the Flag Ceremony. Your presence made this celebration far more than an event. It was historic. It was a powerful reminder of what unites us as a community and as Americans.

As our flag rose into the sky, it represented far more than words can describe. The stars remind us that each state brings its own unique strengths to our nation while remaining united under one flag. The stripes honor the courage and sacrifice of those who declared that liberty was worth fighting for and built the foundation of the United States. Together, our flag tells the story of freedom, perseverance, hope, and the promise that every generation can build a better future.

The American flag has flown over moments of achievement and moments of adversity. It has welcomed new citizens, comforted families in times of loss, inspired those serving in uniform, and reminded millions around the world that freedom is both precious and worth protecting. It is a symbol recognized across the globe because it represents the ideals that have shaped our nation for 250 years.

Those opportunities did not happen by accident. They exist because generations before us accepted the responsibility to preserve them. They served, sacrificed, built communities, raised families, started businesses, educated children, volunteered, voted, and worked together to strengthen our nation. Each generation inherited the blessings of freedom and accepted the obligation to pass them on.

Today, that responsibility belongs to us.

Whether we serve our community, support our neighbors, teach our children the values of citizenship, respect one another despite our differences, or simply leave our community stronger than we found it, each of us plays a role in preserving the American Dream. The future of our nation is not determined by one person but by millions of everyday acts of character, kindness, service, and personal responsibility.

Since its inception, Cape Coral has always been a community built by people who believe in possibility. It is a city where families put down roots, businesses create opportunity, volunteers give generously, and neighbors come together in times of celebration and challenge. That spirit reflects the very ideals our flag represents.

As our American flag flies prominently over Cape Coral, it will stand as a witness to the next 100 years of our city’s story. It will see families build their futures, children grow into leaders, businesses create opportunity, and neighbors come together to overcome challenges and celebrate successes. As Cape Coral continues its journey toward becoming one of the five largest cities in Florida, our flag will remind us that growth alone is not our greatest achievement. Our greatest achievement will be preserving the values that made that growth possible. To every resident, every visitor, and every person who chooses to call Cape Coral home, may this flag declare that this is a community built on freedom, opportunity, hard work, and hope. May it serve as a lasting reminder that here in Cape Coral, we are living the American Dream, and together we have the privilege and responsibility to ensure that dream remains alive for generations yet to come.

As we begin our nation’s next 250 years, let us recommit ourselves to protecting the freedoms we enjoy, strengthening the city we call home, and ensuring that future generations inherit a nation that remains strong, free, and full of opportunity.

Thank you for celebrating this historic milestone with us. Thank you for your patriotism, your commitment to our community, and your belief in the promise of America.

May God continue to bless the brave men and women of our Armed Forces whose honor, courage, and commitment protect the freedoms we hold.

May God continue to bless Cape Coral, the State of Florida, and the United States of America.
