Time for a blue tsunami

To the editor:

When you cut through all the BS, there’s really only one issue on the ballot in our next two general elections: The midterms in November and the presidential election in 2028 and it concerns the integrity of our electoral system.  Do you believe in the honesty and fairness of our voting system, or do you believe the lies spread by our president that there is fraud, corruption and cheating throughout our elections?

The president recently stormed away from an interview by Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press” when she challenged him to provide evidence for his repeated allegations of corruption and cheating in the electoral system.

According to the president, thousands upon thousands of illegal aliens regularly vote in our elections; he claims mail-in balloting is rife with fraud and ought to be abolished.  But the president does not seek fairness; his goal is to rig the system in favor of Republicans, at least Republicans who support him. And the Supreme Court handed him a big win recently when they OK’d an Alabama congressional map that disenfranchised thousands of black voters. White state legislators across the South are now hustling to produce similar congressional maps.

Jim Crow is back; there aren’t many black legislators now; there will be far fewer across the South in a couple of years.  But whites have gotten crafty; now they argue they are not disenfranchising black voters because of their race; they are doing it because black voters will most likely vote Democrat, and our Supreme Court is happy with that ridiculous reasoning.  I’m not sending you to the back of the bus because you’re black, I’m doing it because I suspect you’re a liberal.

1930s fascism has come to America; we are turning back the clock. Jim Crow is back and LGTBQ rights are next.

I’m not a Democrat, but the only way our democracy can be saved is with a blue tsunami of voters rejecting the Trump agenda in November.  If a majority of Americans are OK with Trump’s lies, we can say goodbye to the America we’ve built over 250 years.
