Why the rudeness?

To the editor:

I have seen many public comments concerning the lack of respect shown to the citizens by the mayor and a few other council members. I was doubtful that things could be as bad as people were claiming in various forums, but I recently found out myself that is far worse than people may think.

There were four mean-spirited, based-on-nothing nay votes that pulled the rug on the rowers on Tropicana Park, I set up meetings with current council member District 2 and current council member District 5.

The District 2 meeting was somewhat cordial, but that council person seemed overwhelmed with the facts that negated the justification of her nay vote. Very disturbing was the fact that this current occupant said that there was no chance the issue would be brought up that night. How could she know that? The word Sunshine comes to mind, but we’ll let that go for now.

The second scheduled meeting with the current District 5 guy was abruptly canceled at the scheduled time with no explanation. The current District 5 fellow was sitting in his office doing nothing in full view of all of the others in the waiting room.

That evening, during a break in the council meeting, I called this man down, he was heading for the exit getting away from me, in order to give him my business card and ask him to his face why I was treated so unprofessionally. He said he could not meet with me because he had an ethics complaint. Once again, the word that came to mind was Sunshine.

One week later the current District 5 guy “sets the record straight” in a COW meeting, says he has a recording of a phone call I made. This part is true, it is called VOICEMAIL. He then said we had a cordial conversation at the dais, this is certainly not true. He then said some bantamweight tough guy poppycock about taking something to the bank, while wagging a finger at me. My mother taught me never to do that.

He was wagging a finger not only at me but every citizen in this city that asks very legitimate questions.

The current District 5 person is Kilraine, a very disrespectful man, almost as bad as his buddy the current mayor. I have lived here for 32 years and am a known technical quantity, yet a man with all these alleged science degrees does not want to view scientific data, fluid dynamics actually, because he is under an ethics complaint? I did not file one, it just makes no sense whatsoever. Nor do most of his comments concerning

the current budget and his understanding of where we are in the current economic cycle.

Everything goes up seems to be the mantra of the big spenders on council.

“I’m not a doctor, I just play one on TV” is apropos here as it seems to me a real doctor would know that everything does not always go up, the value of your home in Cape Coral is but one example.
