Democracy stands on power of the people

To the editor:

I was very impressed with the May 6 Voices of Valor section of The Breeze in which Jerry Clay, a U.S. Marine Corps sergeant who spent 10 years in the military stated, “I don’t see the need for us to be in a war right now”. Truer words were never spoken!

It is unclear to anyone why the U.S. is in a war. (When you are bombing each other or attacking Navy ships that’s a war, not a cease fire). What have we got so far? Way higher prices for everything, not just gas. Our wisest and longest-serving officers are being fired and replaced with less-experienced and less-qualified people. The head of the Department of Defense was an infantry officer in the Army National Guard but has no senior command experience and no high-level government or large organization experience. His major qualification is being a FOX News talking head.

That seems to be the case for a lot of people in the current administration. So it’s no wonder that things are going from bad to worse. Every day they try something new to get the people’s minds off the Epstein files, when we know darn well there is a lot of incriminating stuff in there. But a useless war? That’s really going too far.

If you want to lower prices, have the billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, get control of inflation, make sure your vote is actually counted, and bring back the foundation of this country — the power of the people — you must use the power of your vote to send a clear message to congress in November. We, the People are not paying for you to fail to represent OUR interests, and they start here at home.
