To the editor:

The best-kept secret in Cape Coral is our burrowing owls.

We in the Cape have the largest concentration of burrowing in the United States and probably the world.  Catch the Vision, our mayor and council and the Lee County Visitors & Convention Bureau needs to mention them in their ads and talking about growth more than they do or don’t do.

Our population of burrowing owls has sky-rocketed from 3,500 years ago to 7,000 today. The vast  majority who live in the Cape adore these owls which also bring in a great amount of money from hundreds of people that come to see them each year.

Save our owls for the quality of living and our people who live here for the next hundred years. They are our city bird. Honor them as such. Those people running for city council should support our owls for the great amount of money they bring in from visitors.
