‘We’ does means everybody
To the editor:
I want to both thank and congratulate you for your excellent, well-worded editorial titled “We cannot look away.” It referenced the extremely controversial shooting of two Minneapolis citizens by federal ICE agents.
I have heard dozens of people’s opinions ranging from utter horror to “They asked for it, they shouldn’t have been there, they shot themselves…”
Your focus was on a simple, moral, truth. “We” means everybody. Everybody should know and agree that peaceful protesting is absolutely legal, and killing people is absolutely illegal. No one is allowed to break the law in order to enforce the law — period! You explained it perfectly, without political bias. We should all agree: That this needs to be thoroughly and honestly investigated, and must NEVER happen again!
