Editorial opinion premature and inappropriate for our local paper

1 min read

To the editor:

An editorial is an opinion on a topical issue. When I read your current editorial, “We cannot look away,” it appears you are making a conclusion.

The investigation is underway led by federal officials. They will be looking into any civil rights violation along with the Justice Department into any crime that may have been committed. They are the leading investigational officials in this country.

They have not concluded their investigation; it appears you have. Unless some of your editorial board has investigational experience and had some inside information into this investigation, then you should hold those opinions until the professionals finish theirs.

This is a political opinion that does not belong in a newspaper, especially by people that have no investigational experience.  Most thinking people would wait until the investigation is complete before an opinion is given.

Everyone I have spoken to feels as I do.  We don’t want political opinions from our local newspaper unless both sides are given.  Your Letters to the Editor usually contains opinions from both sides, a fair policy to follow. However, your editorials do not.
