Serving as your Supervisor of Elections has been a profound honor and a privilege. However, after nearly a decade in office, I have decided it is time to step down and focus on the next chapter of my life. My retirement date is officially set for Jan. 14.

Earlier this year, I faced a health issue that provided me with a fresh perspective on life. While that issue has since been resolved, the experience reinforced the importance of spending meaningful time with my wife, Donna, whose support has been pivotal over the years. We look forward to enjoying many of the experiences we have envisioned for retirement.

I entered this office with the objective of enhancing elections at all levels, guided by a vision for the future. I take great pride in the progress that our office has made to strengthen voter confidence, modernize elections systems, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

We have expanded voter outreach and education programs, updated voting equipment, and improved cybersecurity and voter access throughout the county with the addition of a branch office in Lehigh Acres.

We were able to shift the majority of municipal elections to align with the general election calendar years, a goal I had set to reduce election costs and boost voter turnout among municipalities.

These accomplishments would not have been possible without the exceptional elections team. There are not enough words to describe how grateful and proud I am of every staff member and poll worker for their hard work and professional.

We have faced many challenges, including an unprecedented pandemic and three major hurricanes. We have overcome those trying times through our shared dedication to conducting superior elections and serving you, the voters of Lee County.

Since I am retiring before my term ends, Gov. Ron DeSantis will appoint my successor to serve through the 2026 general election. The race for this office will appear on that ballot, giving you the opportunity to elect your new Supervisor of Elections.

I have no doubt that this office will continue to operate at the highest level while ensuring you are well-informed and prepared for all elections. Please do not hesitate to contact the office for any questions or concerns.

I want to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season. Thank you again for allowing me the honor of serving as your Supervisor of Elections.
