What do Democrats stand for?
To the editor:
Seems every day I read another criticism from Democrats such as the one today that they are submitting a bill to stop the military from striking the drug-laden boats racing to America with fentanyl poisoning; or fighting ICE for arresting and deporting criminals, some of the worst of the worst; or Maine, Minnesota, California among other blue states who want men to compete in women’s sports.
I believe that everything political parties do should make America better.
Then there was the demand to make the Big Beautiful Bill void and add another $1.5 trillion to the cost of government. Democrats shut down government thereby stopping SNAP payments for over 40 million people who need food to eat, cancelled thousands of flights and kept the military from being paid.
I know our laws are so complex that anything can be fought in court especially if you have friendly judges. Even OJ was found not guilty. But why fight to stop an act that keeps people from being poisoned, arresting criminals? And why make travel painful or allow bullies to play in women’s sports?
Democrats’ main focus seems to be adding more money to our budget for health. Since Obamacare was passed the national expenditure on health has gone from $2.6 trillion to $5 trillion. Our entire federal budget is less than $7 trillion. Maybe we should look at the increase due to government largess and see a private way of doing it instead of lining the pockets of insurance companies and multiplying our debt. Why ignore the fact that letting government manage a benefit sometimes doubles the cost? Just increasing eligibility to Medicaid would have done the same thing as Obamacare at a fraction of the cost.
I don’t get it. What do Democrats stand for? Tell me one thing they promote that would make America better, not just buy more votes.
