Carole A. Billett, beloved mother and friend, departed this earth on November 28, 2021, in Cape Coral, FL from COVID-19 complications. She was 79 years old.

Born to Donald B. Burnette and Beatrice L. McNally on January 23,1942 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, she was a graduate of Hickory High School. Carole went on to graduate from the Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing in 1964 and completed her internship at Southside Hospital. Carole worked as a Registered Nurse at Northside Hospital where her compassion and empathy for people set the stage for a life of nurturing and caregiving.

Carole volunteered at Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties, a non-profit that provides services to children and adults, specifically those with disabilities. She chaired and organized the annual Easterseals fashion show fundraiser and helped publish many versions of the Angels of Easterseals Cookbook, contributing her own family recipes. Her volunteer work continued at the local hospitals in Cape Coral and Ft Myers where she worked in medical records and the neonatal intensive care unit as a “Baby Cuddler”.

Carole devoted her life to her family, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and all those who knew her as Nunna, Aunt Carole and friend. She loved making homemade meatballs, spaghetti sauce, chicken soup and never visited without filling your freezer. She always remembered birthdays, special occasions and eagerly lent a helping hand. Her thoughtful ways and caring heart touched the lives of many who will miss her dearly.

Carole was an avid sports enthusiast and never missed an Ohio State football game. She traveled with close friends to Japan, China, and Canada, to name a few, for figure staking championships and enjoyed watching skating, the Olympics, gymnastics, and other sports on TV, including synchronized swimming which she competed in her youth.

Carole is survived by a son, Brian Anthony, his wife Joyce and their children: Vincent, Dominique and Gabriella and a daughter, Cindi Marie, her husband Kevin and their children Kiera and Cailin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald Burnette.

Honoring her wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please support any of these organizations she cared so deeply about: Easterseals, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, or Hamlin Robinson School.
