John J. Breaz
John J. Breaz, 89, a long-time resident of Cape Coral, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs. He was born in Lorain, Ohio, and was the son of James and Vera (Hudea) Breaz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucretia (Lucy), and is survived by his sister, Ann Dolyk of Ohio; his four children, Alex Breaz of Pembroke Pines, Fla., John Breaz of Coral Springs, Fla., Robert Breaz and Mary Lou Breaz, both of Naples, Fla.; three nieces; and a nephew.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was an active member of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Southwest Florida Chapter, and was very instrumental in the development of this organization, which lobbied for all Merchant Marine veterans who served during wartime to obtain their much deserved veterans status recognition.
Mr. Breaz was a retired freighter captain for U.S. Steel.
Services will be held at Fuller Funeral Home on Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral Saturday, April 17. Family members will be receiving friends from 10 a.m., with funeral services to begin at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, or other local Hospice chapters.
