Frank Cossu
Frank Cossu, 81, of Cape Coral, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009. He was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Mabscott, W.V., to Antonio and Rose Cossu.
He and his loving wife, Doris, lived in Ohio until they relocated to Florida, where they lived for 36 years.
He was admired by all who knew him. Despite facing physical handicaps, he was an active vibrant man who accomplished anything he set his mind to. He loved to challenge his mind.
He was an accomplished clinician and knowledgeable in the many facets of the medical field. For the last 35 years, he devoted this knowledge and expertise to the field of cytology.
His hobbies included fishing, boating and billiards, but his favorite was a good debate on politics. Of all of his many successes, he was most proud of his family.
To his family, he was an inspiration, a man of honor, principle and integrity.
Survivors include his children, Scott Cossu (Debi), Dr. John Cossu (Dr. Cynthia Lukasiewicz), Cynthia Cossu (David Garber) and Barbara Cossu (Charles Edwards); 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and siblings, Phyllis Mayer of Tampa and Carl Cossu of California.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Doris; and brothers, Pete and John.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Cypress Lake Country Club, 6767 Winkler Road, Fort Myers.
He was an animal lover. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, 2010 Arcadia St., Fort Myers, FL 33916-4849.
