Patricia "Patty" Rose Lanese

Patricia “Patty” Rose Lanese, 60, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009, in her Cape Coral home. She was born Aug. 8, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Alice Marie (Balutis) Lanese and Pasquale Michael Lanese, now deceased.

She graduated from the Andrews School for Girls and fulfilled her dream of moving to Cape Coral in 1981.

Her family was very proud of her accomplishments as a model and as being one of the first women to race motorcycles in Ohio in 1964. She had a lifelong love and respect for animals, which she shared with her children and grandchildren.

She looked forward to the time she would spend with her family and many friends who shared her passion for motorcycles and knew her fondly as “Long Tall Patty.”

She was the beloved mother of Tina (Tony) Centanne of Mentor, Ohio, and Raymond Pasquale (Renee) Lanese of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; loving “Gram-Gram” of Mason and Mitchell Centanne; loving “Gram-Mom” of Alexus O’Neil, Robert Santa Maria and Michael and Nicholas Lanese; dear sister of Laurene (David) Kerr, Nick (Maria) Lanese, John Lanese and Kathy (Terry) Thomas; and aunt of Kristen, Megan and Lindsey Kerr, Dina (Jon) Lassister and Theresa Lanese, Dean (Rachel) and Christopher Lanese and Brad and Bryan Hocevar.

A memorial motorcycle ride, in her honor, to celebrate her life will take place Sunday. It will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Shell Factory and will end at the northern tip of Bokeelia at the pier. The Rev. Tom Provenzano will deliver the memorial service at 3 p.m. at the pier.
