Salute to Service & Sacrifice set for Sunday
With Veterans Day right around the corner, members of the community have the opportunity to pay homage to those who served or are currently serving this Sunday at Cultural Park.
The Cape Coral Museum of History will host the second annual Salute to Service and Sacrifice event from noon to 3 p.m. Nov.1 to kick off Veterans Month by celebrating those who served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
“Our committee has been working on making this a bigger event this year,” said Event Chair Linda Biondi. “We will be celebrating our veterans and the local organizations from our area. They are an integral part of Cape Coral’s community.”
The free event will showcase many of the veteran support organizations within the city, along with a full day of patriotic entertainment, food trucks and a vendor village on site. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the day. As an added bonus, guests can tour the museum’s 250th Anniversary exhibit during the event.
“Come out, enjoy the afternoon and check out a few vintage military vehicles, talk to the Collier County Honor Flight, Sisters in Arms and more,” Biondi said.
Opening ceremonies start at 12:30 p.m. and will feature an Honor Guard presentation of the colors and a performance by Guns and Hoses.
Other entertainment includes Robert Gonnelli and Associates’ “A Moment In Time,” which will be performing throughout the day; a performance by the Calendar Girls; and a Mariner JROTC rifle demonstration.
For performance times, more event information or for information on becoming a vendor, visit capecoralmuseum.org/salute-to-service. Merchant and business vendor spots are available. A 10-by-10 space costs $50 for for-profit businesses and $25 for nonprofit organizations.

A Salute to Service and Sacrifice will be held rain or shine.
