CRA to pay off fees owed on now-sold city properties
The Cape Coral City Council, sitting as the Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency Commission, is expected to vote on paying off the remaining Contribution in Aid of Construction to the tune of $347,646.
Resolution 12-26 is for the payment of $347,646 to the City of Cape Coral to pay off the remaining balance of the CIAC fees associated with the city-owned properties now sold as part of the $500 million Bimini East redevelopment project.
According to the resolution, “the mayor and City Council adopted Resolution 235-24 on Aug. 7, 2024, which ratified and authorized the contract for the purchase of 43 parcels located in the Community Redevelopment Area,” and “subsequently, the city acquired an additional four parcels, to create the opportunity for a large-scale development and the alleviation of blighted parcels in the Community Redevelopment Area, making it an ideal location for a mixed-use project of commercial and residential purposes.”
According to the invoice, “the water and sewer CIAC fees applicable to the properties will be paid in full by the CRA based on the current CIAC rates. With the payment of the CIAC fees for these vacant parcels, all CIAC fees will be paid for the site, and no other CIAC fees will be due.”
The meeting also will have updates from staff on code compliance, CRA maintenance and projects.
The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in the City Council’s chambers, at 1015 Cultural Park Blvd., Cape Coral. It is open to the public. The meeting agenda is available online at capecoral.gov.
The meeting can be watched live on Comcast Channel 98 or on YouTube @CapeTV. It also can be watched on demand on the city’s website; these videos are typically posted within 24 hours.
