Cape Coral Parkway East to open three through lanes in each direction by Oct. 23
The Cape Coral Parkway East Six Lane Improvement Project is reaching a major milestone, with three through lanes in each direction expected to open to traffic between Coronado Parkway and Del Prado Boulevard by Oct. 23, weather permitting.
All paving and striping will be completed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
Key details:
• Parking will not be allowed on either side of Cape Coral Parkway once the three through lanes in each direction are open.
• This permanent lane configuration is intended to help reduce traffic backups in the area.
“Motorists should expect congestion in the area as construction continues toward the project’s anticipated completion in November 2026. Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians are urged to use caution in the work zone and follow all posted signage and directions,” city officials said in a release.
The city will provide additional updates as the project progresses.
