Cape man gets 15 years in prison for battery, stalking
A Cape Coral man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for aggravated battery and stalking.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, Rondan Keith, 55, of Cape Coral, was found guilty and sentenced to prison as a Habitual Violent Felony Offender for his crimes against a woman who wanted him to leave her alone.
Keith was sentenced Wednesday.
“Earlier this year, the defendant harassed the victim by sending numerous texts via the phone and messages via social media that were threatening and distressing. He then went to her home to confront her for not responding,” a SAO release states. “The victim got in her car, but the defendant grabbed her keys to prevent her from leaving. He then pulled out a pocket-knife and placed it on her arm as he threatened her.”
The defendant was sentenced as follows:
Count I: Robbery by Sudden Snatching – Sentenced to 10 years in prison as an HVFO
Count II: Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon – Sentenced to 15 years in prison as an HVFO, followed by 5 years of probation
Count III: Aggravated Stalking (Cyber Stalking) – Sentenced to 10 years in prison as an HVFO
Count IV: Tampering with a Witness, Victim, or Informant – Sentenced to 10 years in prison
The sentences will run concurrently.
The SAO release also stated that the Cape Coral Police arrested the defendant, and that after his arrest, he continued to reach out to the victim telling her to drop the charges.
