Lee DOT issues weekly Roadwatch Update
The Lee County Department of Transportation has issued its weekly Roadwatch Update on projects in the county. The following work is planned for or underway in Cape Coral:
Roadwork/Maintenance/Improvement
• SE 14th Street and Del Prado Boulevard S – Cape Coral (ROW2026-01328): Itg Communications/Dcruz Connection will be performing aerial work to run new service to Chase Bank at 1615 Del Prado S. The work will commence Aug. 7, 2026. This work should take 3-4 hours. The outside (right) lane of northbound traffic between S.E. 14th St./Del Prado, S., and Del Prado S./Coral Point Drive will be subject to lane closures. Periodic lane closures for northbound lanes will occur between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30

• Burnt Store Road Safety Improvements: This project consists of safety improvements along Burnt Store Road from Delilah Drive to Vincent Avenue. Work consists of adding 4-foot-wide paved shoulders on both sides of the road, new right and left turn lanes at Caloosa Parkway, rumble strips on the edge of pavement and center lines and required guardrail, roadway signs and pavement markings. Prime contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. The estimated completion date is winter 2026.
Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures and flagging operations as crews continue turn lane widening operations at the Caloosa Parkway intersection. Crews will also continue sod installation along the northbound and southbound shoulders. Milling and paving operations are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. Drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone. The posted speed limit within the work zone remains reduced to 50 mph. • Burnt Store Road Full Depth Reclamation from N.W. Fourth Terrace to Gator Slough Canal: A full depth reclamation project on Burnt Store Road in the southbound lanes from N.W. Fourth Terrace to Gator Slough Canal is nearing completion. Full depth reclamation, paving, and temporary striping operations have been completed. Once the pavement is properly cured, then final thermoplastic striping will be applied. This work addressed storm-related deterioration and restored the roadway’s structural integrity. Final striping operations will be scheduled once cure time requirements are met. • Midpoint Toll Facility: Starting Monday, March 2, 2026, and ending on Sept. 8, 2026, there will be intermittent nightly lane closures. Lee County DOT is performing lane maintenance through the toll plaza. Intermittent lane closures can be expected starting at 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.. • Cape Toll Facility: Starting Monday, March 16, 2026, and ending on September 29, 2026, there will be intermittent nightly lane closures. Lee County DOT is performing lane maintenance through the toll plaza. Landscape -Tree trimming
• Del Prado Boulevard: Lee County DOT will be performing various landscape tasks on Del Prado Boulevard between Cape Coral Parkway and Hancock Bridge Parkway. Lane closures may occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.. Motorists should use caution as flagmen, workers, and equipment will be present.
