City Council may allow short-term food trucks at Jaycee Park
Visitors to Jaycee Park may be able to get a snack or beverage while the city goes back to square one for a new concessionaire.
Cape Coral City Council directed staff to create a list of possible vendors that could offer food and drink in the short-term at the recently reopened riverfront park at the end of Driftwood Parkway.
Mayor John Gunter said maybe the city could solicit vendors interested in commitments of perhaps 30 days.
The idea is to have a food truck that can offer something at the park while the city goes back through the process of finding a long-term contract concessionaire for the facility it spent $18.7 million to wholly rebuild.
“In all reality, we kind of weren’t able to bring this to fruition — something to do in the short term until the long term,” Gunter said.
City Manager Michael Ilczyszyn said he will determine the quickest way to make that happen.
