Cape Coral Tech snips the ribbon on major expansion
Cape Coral Technical College hosted a large gathering of students, faculty and community leaders Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of a major expansion.
Cape Coral Technical College, located at 360 Santa Barbara Blvd., N, operates as part of the School District of Lee County.
Dr. Denise Carlin, superintendent of Lee County Schools, said, “The programs in this building were designed hand in hand with local employers, which means our students train on the same equipment and to the same standards they will find on the job.”
Before the official ribbon-cutting, Charlie Pease, director of Cape Coral Technical College, welcomed Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats as the college’s first-ever Founding Industry Partner. Nor-Tech Chief Operating Officer Henrik Margard presented an initial donation of $20,000 during Wednesday’s ceremony.
“At Nor-Tech, we believe that investing in education is an investment in our community’s future,” Margard said.
Pease added, “Nor-Tech’s commitment gives our Marine Academy students access to the technology and expertise that will set them apart in the workforce.”
Thanks to the expansion, Cape Coral Technical College can now offer programs spanning three high-demand sectors including: transportation, manufacturing and architecture and construction. The technical school, which began serving the community in 1993, currently offers 19 programs.
By teaming with local businesses, Cape Coral Technical College can offer work-based learning and curriculum that is partially shaped by industry professionals. The technical college offers curriculum for high school dual enrollment, as well as for veterans and individuals 16 years and older.
