Garden Club places wreath, flags at Blue Star Marker at Eco Park
On a very hot July afternoon this week, members of the Garden Club of Cape Coral gathered to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by placing a hand-made wreath of red, white and blue ribbons and flowers at their Blue Star Marker at 4-Mile Eco Cove Park, home of Veterans Memorial Park. President Sylvia Swartz spoke about the significance of the anniversary and member Cathy Dunn led the gathering in a prayer for unity in the pursuit of peace and justice for all. The anniversary wreath was made and placed by club members Nancy Finnegan and Peggy Loyson. Following the wreath placement, members of the club placed miniature 250th anniversary flags around the perimeter of the garden. As a memento of the occasion, those present received small red pentas to plant in their gardens as a permanent reminder of the day.
