FHP: Wrong-way driver causes fatal crash on I-75 in Broward County
A Cape Coral man was involved in a traffic accident Friday night in Broward County that resulted in the death of a woman from Parkland, Fla., who was driving the wrong direction on I-75.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 10:02 p.m. Friday, the 45-year-old woman was driving a 2020 Tesla Model 3 west in the eastbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 36, when her vehicle collided with a 2026 BMW X3 driven by the 25-year-old Cape man who was driving east on I-75.
The driver of the Tesla was pronounced deceased at the scene and the Cape Coral man sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, FHP reported.
The accident remains under investigation.
