Resident charged with conducting open house party, allowing minors to consume alcohol
A house party that police said was advertised on social media and involved underage drinking lead to the arrest of a Cape Coral man.
Samir Mukovic, 25, was arrested for conducting an open house party and allowing alcohol consumption by minors.
According to Cape Coral Police Department officials, officers responded to a disturbance involving “possible weapons” at a residence at 2810 Diplomat Parkway West just after midnight on June 12.
CCPD officials stated that dispatch advised officer that a fight was occurring at the location and that weapons may have been involved. Police officials stated additional information indicated that several females were reportedly locked in a bedroom and that cocaine may have been present.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual outside who denied knowledge of any disturbance, according to CCPD.
“Officers observed the front door open and, due to the nature of the call, entered the residence to ensure the safety of those inside,” a release from CCPD stated. “Approximately 30 individuals were found attending a party, many of whom appeared to be juveniles. Additional juveniles were observed entering through the rear of the residence. Officers noted numerous alcoholic beverages in plain view, some open and actively being consumed, as well as marijuana.
“The initial report of a disturbance was not substantiated. However, officers began an investigation into an open house party involving underage individuals. Several juveniles on scene admitted to attending the party after seeing it advertised on social media. Others indicated they had been invited to attend and bring additional guests.”
Officers made contact with the resident, identified as Mukovic, and the investigation revealed that he allowed an individual to host a party at his home and acknowledged that the event was promoted on social media, police officials stated.
CCPD officials said officers determined that Mukovic maintained control of the residence, permitted an open house party, and failed to take reasonable steps to prevent underage possession and consumption of alcohol and drugs.
Juveniles present at the scene were released to their parents without further incident.
Mukovic has since been released from Lee County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
