The contract approved includes work from Hunter Boulevard to 1,000 feet east of Orange Grove Boulevard and will include:

• Construction of a 6-foot-wide sidewalk

• Water main installation

• New fire hydrants

• Minor road work with milling, paving and pavement markings

• Drainage improvements

• Irrigation control relocation

• Pedestrian safety upgrades

• Aluminum guiderails

The $2.9 million contract is with Fort Myers-based Andrew Site Work LLC. Construction is expected to begin in August and take 14 months to complete.

The project is a priority identified by the Lee County Bicycle/Pedestrian advisory committee.
