The School District of Lee County is initiating a formal disciplinary proceeding for an Ida S. Baker High School teacher for alleged inappropriate conduct toward a student.

Based on an investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Casimiro Razo, 36, last Thursday, just before 7 a.m.

A Fort Myers Beach resident, Razo was taken into custody by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Lee County Jail, charged with one count of sex offense against student by authority figure, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.

According to the School District of Lee County, the district “suspended the employee in February and prohibited their return to campus pending an investigation. Following the completion of the investigative report, the school district is now initiating formal disciplinary proceedings.”

According to the CCPD, the school administration reported that a student reported that her former teacher, Razo, made comments about her appearance, passed her handwritten notes, obtained her phone number and communicated with her outside of school. The student said notes would be passed to her nearly every day.

In October 2025, the student reported that Razo asked her to stay after class, led her into a storage room in the classroom, and kissed her on the lips.

CCPD said phone records corroborated the student’s report of receiving calls.

As of late Thursday afternoon, Razo remained in custody at the Lee County Jail.
