Cape Coral City Council is expected to vote on a grant agreement to further fund the North 1 UEP project Wednesday.

Resolution 110-26, is a grant agreement between the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the city for grant funding for the North 1 UEP – contracts 8,9, and 10 catch basin modifications for $1,388,907.

The State Water-Quality Assistance Grant program funds stormwater system enhancements. It will support 367 open-throat catch basins with upgraded units, which will reduce direct surface water discharge into the canal system by directing runoff toward ponds, which will lower nutrient loads and improve water quality in the canal system.

Resolution 110-26 is part of the city’s consent agenda, meaning there will be no council discussion unless a member of the elected board “pulls” the item for discussion. Consent agenda items frequently include contract awards for requests for proposals solicited by the city, purchase orders, work authorizations and the like and are approved as a package.

There is no public input before consent agenda votes.

The agenda also includes a handful of Economic Development Incentive Participation agreements.

The first is Resolution 107-26, an agreement between the city and Architectural Metal Flashings, LLC to expand their existing manufacturing facility for $132,862 Business Infrastructure Grant award.

According to agenda documents, in May 2016 Architectural Metal Flashings, LLC formed. The business manufactures metal panels, metal flashings, and related components for the roofing and building industry. The proposed project is for a 11,250-square-foot building addition at 2659 N.E. 9th Ave.

The second, Resolution 108-26 is an agreement between the city and Cape Coral Real Estate, LLC. for the construction of a commercial building. The Business Infrastructure Grant award is for $221,914. The new construction is for a 5,300-square-foot facility at 3210 Del Prado Blvd. S.

The building will include approximately 3,100 square feet for a new state-of-the-art dental office, and remaining approximately 2,200 square feet as leasable commercial space. The total construction cost of the project is $2,219,148.

The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in City Council chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd. The meeting is open to the public.
