Two Cape men charged with armed robbery of convenient store
A pair of Cape Coral men have been arrested for alleged armed robbery of a local convenient store.
Yoise Ernesto Cintra Maymir, 29, and Vicente Gonzalez, 51, are both being charged with robbery with a firearm, with Maymir also being charged with drug possession.
According to Cape Coral Police Department officials, on Jan. 12 just after midnight, officers were called to the 7-Eleven on Andalusia Boulevard in reference to an armed robbery in progress, where a male allegedly brandished a handgun, grabbed cash and then fled.
CCPD’s Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and identified a four-door Chevrolet Malibu as being involved in the robbery, and potential suspects were discovered.
On Jan. 15, CCPD officials state a search warrant was executed at the home listed on the vehicle registration in Cape Coral.
Police officials also state a traffic stop was conducted on the car, where the sole driver, Maymir, was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and had a gun in his waistband that was “similar” to the one used in the 7-Eleven robbery.
“Located in the home during the search warrant were several clothing items that were similar to the ones worn by the suspect during the robbery,” a release from CCPD stated.
Gonzalez, who also lives at the same residence as Maymir, was also arrested.
Both men are still in custody at Lee County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon, with no bond set.
